Great service, really good steak, pasta portion sizes are big but very tasty

The food, service and atmosphere were excellent! I recommend the seafood pasta, it was packed with seafood and delicious. Will come back for sure 😄

We went to Kalvas for the first time last night. The server was very attentive and the meal was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Yeah the foods good, but whoever the man is that runs front of house isn't friendly and ruined the whole experience for me. I get better customer service at McDonald's. He hung up on my mom twice when she was trying to make a reservation. Needless to say, won't be spending another dime here.

Exceptional food, and classy service. Kalvas Log House Restaurant is absolutely one of my favourite, finer dining, establishments on Vancouver Island. Kalvas is the only place, that I have found so far on the west coast, that serves an excellent lobster plate. There is a great variety of fare to choose from, and it is all perfectly prepared, and well worth the slightly higher pricing. Don't wait, go eat!

My Family and I had such an amazing dinner here tonight. Service was excellent and food was fresh and delicious. My kids are 6&7 and they loved it. When we come back to Parksville this will definitely a place we revisit!!

First time to Kalvas the Log House and it won't be the last. On our way home down island from an Easter weekend outing and driving through Parksville and decided to have dinner and drove past Kalvas. The log house looked interesting so we decided to stop and try it out. Ordered the Mixed Seafood Sampler which I shared with my husband - excellent!! Excellent presentation, taste, price and service!! Will highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

We had the Oyster Rockefeller and Lobster Platter. The host was very considerate and the staff is warm and friendly. The price is low for the quality and quantity of the food; however, the service and atmosphere put it over the top!

recent visit for early supper with family was sadly a complete disappointment. french onion soup, mussels and chowder were all bland and flavorless. i cook and these dishes should not be that difficult to get right. the staff were also unpleasantly overattentive. they kept interrupting us with persistent tip-motivated questions re refilling water and “are we enjoying our meals”. was hoping for much better for the price. sadly not worth it.

Amazing experience with very attentive and professional staff. The food was absolutely fantastic from the awesome crab dip appy, to the surf and turf special, to the complimentary tiramisu the server offered us since we were celebrating our anniversary. Great big wine list as well. The whole experience was definitely not what I expected in a tiny little town. If you’re in town it’s definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

The food and the service was fabulous.

Went for my husband's birthday last night. This is one of our favorite restaurants. We went Friday night and had the prime rib dinner, it was delicious. The service was great and they allowed my husband to choose any dessert on the menu and comped it on the bill. It was a great experience as always. Try this restaurant out, get a reservation though as it is super busy

Very good, nice atmosphere, good service .. if you order prime rib might want gravy on the side I thought it was too much but delicious my husband likes allot of gravy so he gives it 5/5. Steaks are excellent, vegetables crispy, potatoes perfect... appetizers great. Definitely won’t leave hungry I would say 4/5 or 5/5 never disappointing and if something wrong they fix it ...

Seafood platter didn't have much taste to it.I believe different sauce might work better for that dish. Also,try to get a table somewhere further away from the entrance.People keep opening doors and cold air comes in your way

Friendly service and food was nice. There aren’t a lot of good places to eat in Parksville thus we ended up at a fine dining establishment looking for a quick lite meal. They accommodated us well and also have some helpful local info. Would return for a special meal if we had more time.

Pretty good food. A little pricey. Great service.

Waited about an hour for my dinner. Table of 4 came in after us and was eating their meals before we were. Waitress tells me that my lobster tail was taking long. Lobster tails should be in 425 oven for 16 mins. Terrible excuse as to why others got their suppers before ours. Seems that the new management is still having problems with consistancy. I'll try it in off season to see if things have improved. Manager did apologize and offered free desserts.

Save your money. Everything that we had was entirely under seasoned and the hottest thing was the plates the main dishes came on.

Beautiful setting, absolutely delicious appetizers and mains. Will have to try their dessert next time we eat here. Highly recommend for a romantic setting here in the Parksville/Qualicum area.

Ordered some seafood pasta take out and a veggie pasta. For almost sixty dollars I expected more. The owner is a very personable guy who knows his stuff so I was a little disappointed with the quality of the food and his snotty young hostess needs a lesson in manners and etiquette in a fine dining establishment. Perhaps table service is better.

Unfortunately New year's Eve Dinner was just ok. The waitress with long black hair was terrible. .She wasn't friendly,didn't ask us if our Dinner was ok, or even if we needed anything. .Will NOT go back. Terrible Customer service.

Had an excellent experience here! Food was hot, not over cooked (We had the seafood platter for two with the lobster cooked to perfection) and everything arrived in a timely manner. Service was prompt and we really enjoyed it! We have also been to their Friday night 'Prime Rib' night and found their portions to be adequate, service was great and again our meal arrived in a timely manner.

Great food and good value. Fancy dining room, looks really nice. A bit on the pricey side but worth it in the end.

The owner greeted us warmly upon arriving. Our meal was fantastic! I had the halibut which was fresh that day. It melted in my mouth.My husband had the 10 oz. prime rib dinner. He was super happy. I had the creme brulee which was silky smooth. Kudos to the chef(s) for their presentation of each meal. As we left the owner chatted with us briefly as he held open the door. We are long time regular customers of this restaurant. So wonderful to be able to depend on great food and service, every single time. Our definite "go to" choice when entertaining out of town guests or business associate. Recently under new management, but has not skipped a beat. Still the same great staff, service, and the menu is not changed much at all. Come and have your old favourites!

Wow! From the beautiful architecture and furnishing, to the friendly staff, to the delicious offerings ... an experience to remember from start to end. I had the Mixed Seafood Sampler. It was a good portion size: left you satisfied without feeling full. My friend had the recommended Friday night steak. It was butter in her mouth it was so tender. The service was efficient and non-obtrusive while still being very friendly.My one criticism was that the halibut and salmon on my plate were slightly under salted while the rice was almost too salty. However, the balance over the whole dish worked nicely - and the scallops were divine. It is definitely a place I will go back to for a special occasion.

The food was very good. Two of us had something from the daily special and four chose from the menu. Everyone was happy with their choices. The desserts were good too. Service was also good. We will go back sometime.

We arrived 10minutes after the power came on, after a 5 hour outage. The staff were lovely and accommodating. The food was excellent. Even after having no power to do prep work, the food and service were excellent. Would definitely recommend

I don’t have enough nice things to say about this place. The atmosphere was calm and beautiful. The food was prepared very well. And the staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I was here with the whole family (10 people) and everything came out perfectly. Very impressive. The seafood chowder had huge chunks of fish and muscles. All desserts were made in house and pricing was very reasonable.

We had an amazing dinner at Kalvas! Tim was our waiter with a super sense of humor. The service and food was amazing! Will make this our date night stop!

We had the best service ever. The gentlemen who was managing the front of the house was amazing! Got us a walk in table quickly and not once let my wine glass get too low. The food was absolutely delicious!

very outdated decor, tacky service but high end prices. Smells like sewer backup throughout the whole restaurant. Nothing special about this place. Old person hangout. .*Gave us bread and butter- butter was rock hard couldn't even spread it *ordered steak but no steak knife with meal*asked everyone for drinks except my daughter*sat us next to the door even though the restaurant was empty*packaged up our leftovers into same container (different peoples meals)*Lamb was tender but dish was tasteless.They need to modernize their menu- experience was bland all around. We will not be going back. Fine dining? Yeah right. Head to Beach Club across the street instead far better service.

Went on my birthday and had an excellent meal with family. Went back today and had the toughest, most undercooked steak ever. How disappointing. Even with $20.00 off, that I didn't request, it was $38.00 and change for a beer, a glass of wine and some roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes and 4 prawns that were actually pretty good.Update: I returned a third time. A regrettable experience once again. The wait staff were awkward to say the least. I ordered the steak and prawns as I did last time. The medium rare steak I ordered arrived well done this time.

Sometimes you have to travel 4 thousand miles across the entire continent, two countries to find a hidden jewel of local cuisine restaurant to serve you a superb meal you've been dreaming the entire trip — absolutely fresh prime natural ingredients prepared by a masterful chef and served by the nicest most friendly waitress. Kalvas is simply off the charts, come to Parksville, BC in Vancouver Island and you will testify yourself about this treasure cusine.

Excellent food in beautiful Parksville. The seafood platter was amazing and the scallops are cooked to perfection. Worth the stop for some great seafood. They also have lamb and a variety of other entrees.

Service and ambience excellent. Only glitch was one piece of fish on the seafood platter - salmon still had skin and fat on and overcooked. Rest of platter was great and cooked perfect: prawns, scallops, halibut, snapper. Husband had lamb shank and was pleased. Wine list very reasonable. We will return.
